Elizabeth Higginson Oldroyd (My Grandma)



Elizabeth Higginson Oldroyd 1923 ~ 2009 Elizabeth Oldroyd loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away in her sleep the morning of March 31, 2009. She was born March 8, 1923 in Nephi, Utah to James Franklin Higginson and Elizabeth Ostler Higginson. She had four brothers, Frank, Joe, Ned and Lawrence. Married Lee J. Oldroyd on May 26, 1942. Their marriage was later sealed for time and eternity on Sept 19, 1955. They had four wonderful children, Ken, Linda, Alan and Arlene. Elizabeth was a faithful and valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held numerous callings of service, the last being many years as a Temple worker at the Jordan River Temple. Elizabeth also loved the Utah Jazz, following them with hope and excitement for the last three decades. Elizabeth's true joy in life came from her family. She always put her family first and did everything she could to make them happy. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Linda Bridges, Arlene Leach and daughter-in-law Josie Oldroyd, 12 grandsons, three granddaughters and numerous great grandchildren. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, husband and two sons Ken and Alan. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 4, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the LDS 14th Ward, located at 192 West 200 South, Tooele. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Tooele City Cemetery.
